About Centacareservices Carer Support Program

Centacareservices Carer Support Program is funded by Australian and State Government programs as follows:

National Respite for Carers Program

Funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, this funding enables us to offer:

• flexible respite options for carers of frail elderly and carers of people with a disability in the South Brisbane and North Brisbane Metro regions
• cottage-style respite for carers of frail aged people in the North Brisbane region
• flexible respite options for employed carers of frail aged people in North and South Brisbane Regions

Where “flexible respite options” are offered, the service will liaise with the carer to develop a service plan that will best meet his/her needs. Services may include:

• Day Care Centre – standard hours, plus extended hours
• In home respite
• Community Access – 1:1 and group
• Overnight – inhome, host family and other
• Host family daytime
• Vacation/holidays
   

Ageing Carers Program

Funded by Disability Services Queensland, the Ageing Carers Program provides a variety of respite options to carers aged 65 years or older (45 or over if the carer identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) caring for an individual with a disability. The program aims to:

• Enhance the capacity of carers to continue in the caring role
• Provide opportunities for social, recreational and development activities for the person with a disability
• Prevent premature admittance to long term supported accommodation.

Service users are given the option to access the following types of support:

• Overnight Out of Home Respite
• In Home Respite
• Holiday Respite
• Day Respite
• Emergency Respite
