Disability Support

Centacare Community Support Services receives a range of government funding to deliver services to persons with a disability from birth to 60 years of age. Funding by Disability Services (Queensland) is provided primarily for individuals aged 25 or under.

Services support persons with a disability and their carers and strengthen the capacity of families to continue to provide care. The overall aim is to prevent inappropriate or early admission of individuals to residential care.

A person's disability may be classified as physical; intellectual; sensory; a mental health issue; challenging behaviour; or a combination of disabilities.

Strategies are developed to maintain and increase the network of relationships around each person and to provide a safe and supportive environment for the person and their family.

A range of short-term respite options are offered that include:

  • In-home, overnight and emergency respite
  • Day centre programs
  • Vacation care
  • Camps
  • Community access
  • Family, social and lifestyle supportĀ
