Home Assist Secure is a community service funded by the Queensland Department of Housing and supported by the Queensland Police Service.
The service aims to remove some of the practical housing related difficulties experienced by older people and persons with a disability who wish to remain living in their home by providing:
- Informed decisions about home maintenance repairs, modifications and security
- Subsidised assistance for eligible people unable to obtain alternative assistance with minor home maintenance which relates to their health, safety and security
- Home security where staff trained by Queensland Police Service can inspect your home to help you decide on security related repairs and installations.
How to Access a Service
Clients can access the service by referral from self; health service provider; doctor; family; friends; hospital; or occupational therapists.
Eligibility for Services
- You are a home owner or live in rental housing
- 60 years of age, or over
- Of any age with a disability
- For subsidised assistance, you must receive an Australian Government allowance or payment
- Unable to make use of alternative forms of assistance such as Home and Community Care, Department of Veterans' Affairs, Department of Communities Housing and Homelessness Services, family or friends
