Psychiatric Pastoral Care

Catholic Psychiatric Pastoral Care (CPPC) is a support organisation that started in response to the challenges persons living with mental illness face. CPPC receives funding from Department of Communities (Queensland) and the Archbishop's Centacare Appeal.

A network of professionally trained volunteer pastoral carers undergirds the work of CPPC. A pastoral carers training course is held once a week at the Fortitude Valley centre from May to November.

A drop-in centre at the ministry's inner-city Fortitude Valley headquarters is a welcoming support to members every Monday to Friday, 9.30am-3pm, during the school year.

Services

  • Pastoral visitation to persons hospitalised with a mental illness and to those living in hostel accommodation
  • Prayer ministry for persons living with a mental illness, and their families
  • Faith and prayer support groups to meet the spiritual needs of persons with a mental illness
